There are no "New Scrolls" in Rev 20:12. Just "scrolls".
The WT pulled the "new" out of their a$$; like "new light"....
we are always urged to "make sure of all things", namely, that anything we preach or teach is verifiable and true.
especially when we are referring to the bible.. at our convention, two things which came from the platform made me cringe, especially as one of the statements came from a regular and experienced convention speaker.
first; "over a quarter of a million new brothers and sisters were baptized last year - doesn't this show love on jehovah's part that he is allowing time for such ones to get to know him".
There are no "New Scrolls" in Rev 20:12. Just "scrolls".

deadlocked or not, the priest sex-abuse jury did its job.
philadelphia daily news.
This is what I see as the most valuable piece:
"...It also follows on the heels of last week's astounding $28 million jury verdict in favor of an Oakland, Calif., woman who was sexually molested as a child by a member of the Jehovah's Witnesses..."
Not ALLEGEDLY, not CLAIMED TO BE SEXUALLY MOLESTED
in a sharp contrast from the half-assed press release by WT headquarters...
You know the media does not play around with "Allegedly", when it is needed.
http://www.jw-media.org/usa/20120620.htm .
just plain old corporate denial.
let the games begin.. .
Note the offense they are denying on their website:
" NEW YORK—Jehovah’s Witnesses will appeal the decision of a California jury in a court case involving alleged acts of child abuse."
"child abuse" is kinda like someone slapped the kid too hard one too many times....or made them do hard physical labor...or gave them a black eye...
We are talking about child sexual molestation!
I personally don't see how the terms are interchangeable.
with all of the hype surrounding sparlock ... i didn't see anyone post anything about the sunday drama at the convention.. my husband and i decided that we were only going to attend the sunday of the convention.
we drove down, but got cold feet and we ended up going out for coffee and hitting up the local shopping mall, heading over to the convention for lunch to show our faces, then taking off home for the afternoon.
it was a good day ;).
wannabefree, what is the key to listening to the drama. I have never been able to view anything or listen to the ivivid.???

unless you've been living under a rock you know that a court in california has found the wts guilty of negligence in covering over child abuse, and the wts has ben ordered to pay $20 million + to the victim.. also, unless you've been living under a rock, you know that there are thousands, probably 10's of thousands, of similar victims of wts coverups regarding sexual abuse still out there.. now that the precedent has been set - now that the wts was not able to settle out of court, and has been found guilty - now that this is international news, and literally millions of people are aware of it - it seems that now may be the time to strike even more deeply.. i am not an attorney, but there are a few who post on the board, and others who have a deeper understanding of legal matters.. what would it take to begin a class action lawsuit against the wts?
how exactly does the process start?
does it matter which state it starts in?
I don't know. What you say makes sense too...
Yet, a 500 million settlement for even 500 victims vs. 10-20 mil individual settlements for the same 500 victims empties the coffers at a much greater rate AND the borg has to fight them on several hundred different fronts simultaneously....In class action they will throw all lawyer firepower in the same battle
You are rigth that in terms of a PR nightmare the class action gives more bang for the buck, I just think that it does not have the same financial impact.
But what do I know, as I said I ain't no loor, nor do I play one on TV

Sir, I am no lawyer either, but it seems to me that individual law suits can do more damage than a class action.
In class action, the entire damage can be assesed BEFOREHAND and the WT would know how to defend it. The number of defendants will be known, the damages can be planned for and once the main fiasco fizzles out it will be yesterday's news...
In the case of individual lawsuits popping up left and right with unpredictable damage awards and with no end in sight, the WT will be always at a disatvantage of not knowing what follows. The precedent is already set and with every new case will grow stronger.
How many more $10-20 MM payouts?
When will this end?
It will be a PR nightmare with no end in sight....

Comments below overwhelmingly side with the father....
Just saying in light of the WT's own child abuse "headaches"
watchtower's database what is the real fear?.
today i added a new article to my blog revealing a piece of documentation explaining why watchtower feels the need to have so many lawyers working for its legal department.
this information includes a document where, shockingly, watchtower makes a rather candid admission about its database of reports from elders across the united states.
On one hand, there is no such database. On the other hand, such information will create an avalanche of lawsuits.
Which one is it, dear Borg?
